In the vibrant heart of Dar es Salaam, just a short walk from the city center, stands the vibrant district of Kariakoo an area known for its endless trade and energy. And within that flow of activity, Leila Hamza Mkobani has found her purpose. For the past two years and two months, she has been a dedicated Easybuy sales agent, working from the Kariakoo shop while calling Mbagala her home.

For Leila, joining Easybuy was a natural step. With a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Public Relations, she was eager to put her skills into practice in a role that combined communication, business, and impact.

“This was an opportunity to do what I studied and make a real difference in people’s lives,” she explains.

A Day in Kariakoo: Serving with Purpose

Leila’s mornings begin with care and order, organizing and tidying the shop to ensure it’s ready for the many customers who walk in daily. From there, her responsibilities extend to onboarding new clients, explaining installment plans, and even attending to phone calls from those curious about Easybuy’s services.

Her customer base is diverse, ranging in age from 18 to 65 years old. But what strikes her most is the income mix: around 70% low-income customers and 30% middle-income earners. For many of them, owning a smartphone seems like a luxury until Easybuy makes it attainable.

Explaining the Process, Opening Possibilities

Leila knows that most people who step into the Kariakoo shop are eager to leave with a phone as quickly as possible. That’s why she carefully explains the essentials: the 30% down payment, the interest rate, and the simple eligibility requirements.

“It’s not just about closing a sale,” she says. “It’s about making sure the customer understands how the process works, so they can build trust and confidence with Easybuy.”

A Life Transformed Through Trust

Among the many customers she has served, one story remains unforgettable. A middle aged woman first came to Easybuy to secure a smartphone loan. She made her down payment, completed her installments on time, and thought her journey ended there.

But Easybuy had more in store. Because of her excellent repayment record, she later qualified for a cash loan a lifeline she used to open a liquor store. Months later, she returned to the Kariakoo shop, full of gratitude.

“She came back to thank me,” Leila recalls with pride. “She said the loan changed her life, helped her start a business, and gave her family financial stability. That moment showed me the real power of what we do.”

Connecting Businesses, Students, and Communities

For Leila, Easybuy’s role in Tanzania goes far beyond smartphones. She has seen firsthand how students use phones for research, online classes, and communication, while small business owners use them for marketing and digital payments.

“Easybuy has a big impact not just on individuals but on entire communities,” she explains.

From entrepreneurs launching businesses to university students striving for academic success, Easybuy is proving that access to technology is more than convenience—it’s empowerment.

How Easybuy Has Impacted Leila’s Life

Working with Easybuy has also been deeply transformative for Leila herself. The role has allowed her to grow her confidence, sharpen her communication skills, and gain valuable hands on experience in sales and marketing a direct extension of her degree.

She has also achieved greater financial independence, supporting her family while building her own future.

“This job has given me stability and helped me grow professionally,” she says. “I’ve learned how to engage with all kinds of customers and build trust it’s a skill I’ll carry with me for life.”

What It Means to Be Part of Easybuy

For Leila, being a sales agent is about more than meeting targets. Each phone loan approved and each customer guided represents progress: another person stepping into the digital age with tools for growth.

As she continues her journey in Kariakoo, her story reflects the very heart of Easybuy’s mission making smartphones affordable, building trust, and unlocking opportunities for all Tanzanians.
